Committees

If you are interested in serving on a committee, please complete the Committee Participation Form . At the request of the Committee chair, you may be asked to complete an additional form describing relevant experience, or other qualifications, and your likely contributions to that Committee. Please note that all appointments are made by the President of the College. Chair appointments are for one year and require annual review; individuals may serve as Chair for more than one year.

Admissions

The Admissions Committee is charged with receiving and reviewing applications for admission to membership in the College and promotion to Fellow within the College. The Committee then makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Admissions Committee is composed of the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer (ex officio), and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve three year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.

Associate Member
The Associate Member Committee shall lead the development, implementation, and progression of tasks and activities that promote the professional development of Associate Members, and their involvement within the College. This includes events at the Annual Meeting, as well as ongoing activities through the year. The Associate Member Committee consist of an advisor (ACE  Fellow chosen annually), Chair (annual term), Vice-Chair (annual term), and any interested Associate Members of the College (no appointment terms).

Awards
The Awards Committee selects recipients for awards issued by the College, primarily at the Annual Meeting. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.

Communications
The Communications Committee is responsible for identifying and investigating innovative communications vehicles that meet the evolving needs of our members, and promoting a better understanding of the profession of epidemiology to the public. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors. The Committee serves as a liason between the Board of Directors and ACE members to ensure a timely and mutual exchange of information on matters pertinent to the practice of epidemiology.

Career Mentoring
The goal of the committee is to support professional career development through the facilitation of mentoring relationships within the College.  This includes: increase educational opportunities enhance networking at the Annual Meeting, develop mentoring partnerships.

Education
The Education Committee develops educational courses and oversees planning of the scientific program for the Annual Meeting. The Commitee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College the President appoints to serve three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.

Ethics
The Ethics Committee is charged with addressing ethical, legal and social issues, developing educational resources, working with other committees and advising the College and other as appropriate. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and at least five other members of the college appointed by the President for three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors. 

Finance
The Finance Committee is responsible for long range budgeting and investment of ACE funds, and serves in an advisory capacity to the Tresurer and the Board of Directors. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors. The College Treasurer is an ex-officio member.

Membership
The Membership Committee is charged with developing strategies to recruit new members and to promote retention of current members. It is also responsible for recommending new services for members. The Committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve five-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.

Minority Affairs
The Minority Affairs Committee assesses the status of minorities in the profession, the role of the College in promoting increased minority representation in epidemiology and in the College, and recommends actions to increase research on health concerns of minority populations. The committee is composed of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the college appointed by the President to serve three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.

Nominating
The members of this committee present the names of at least two candidates for each vacancy on the Board of Directors to the membership by mail ballot. The committee consists of three Fellows or Members, appointed annually, none of whom is a member of the Board of Directors.

Policy
The Policy Committee is responsible for developing policy positions and statements on behalf of the membership for approval by the Board of Directors. The committee consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve three-year terms.At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.

Publications
The committee is responsible for all scientific publications emanating from the College. The committee selects editors and establishes editorial and production policies and consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, and other members of the College appointed by the President to serve three-year terms. At least one Fellow or Member shall be a member of the Board of Directors.
