CAPT Diana Bensyl currently serves in the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Field Assignments Branch at the CDC as an EIS Field Supervisor. She trains, supervises, mentors, and supports EIS Officers who are assigned to state and local health departments. She joined CDC and the US Public Health Service in 1999 as an EIS Officer assigned to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Alaska Field Station in Anchorage, Alaska. CAPT Bensyl served as a staff epidemiologist at the CDC NIOSH Alaska Field Station and then the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Division of Reproductive Health. She was also Adjunct Faculty for Epidemiology at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.

CAPT Bensyl earned a Master of Arts in Sociology from Baylor University and a PhD in Preventive Medicine and Community Health, specializing in Sociomedical Sciences, from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She joined ACE in 2000 and has served on the Education Committee since 2003. She has been co-Chair of that committee since 2006 and has coordinated roundtable and workshop sessions for several ACE annual meetings. She was the Program Committee Chair for the 2009 ACE Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
