KeynotesThe ACE Annual Meeting always brings Keynoters of national-renown--bringing you the latest advances and perspective in the field. We are very pleased to announce that our two Keynoters will be:
Dr. Hernan will present: “Causal inference and AI. What can we learn from data and how much learning can we automate?” In 2024, so-called AI is a set of data analysis tools that may be helpful for health researchers. To discuss the potential role of AI, this talk describes a taxonomy of learning (from data) tasks and explores the relationship between two of them: prediction (pattern recognition) and counterfactual prediction (causal inference). AI tools developed for prediction can be helpful for counterfactual prediction when data are adequately combined with causal models of the world. This raises questions about the origin of causal models and about whether AI tools can partly automate causal inference research in the health sciences. and Randi Foraker, PhD, MA, FAHA, FAMIA, FACMI Dr. Foraker will present: "From Data to Decisions: AI's Impact on the Future of Public Health” Dr. Foraker will discuss her work harnessing AI’s capabilities to advance public health and share her expertise in designing effective interventions for wide dissemination. Given the transformative potential of AI in revolutionizing healthcare we are now able to leverage data-driven insights to improve both individual and population health outcomes. Topics will cover the use of AI in predictive analytics for disease prevention, personalized medicine, and early detection of outbreaks and will highlight the importance of designing interventions that not only utilize AI tools but also ensure their accessibility and adoption across diverse communities. Strategies such as community engagement, user-centered design, and partnerships with healthcare providers will be discussed as essential for successful dissemination.
