ACE Scholars Program

Annual Leadership Development and Networking Program 

The ACE Scholars program is intended to foster the leadership development of early career investigators and practitioners in epidemiology, helping build the next generation of ACE leaders to fulfill its mission and goals. This one-year program is designed with programmatic elements including mentorship, networking, project management, and training. 

Key Dates

  • Applications Due: July 20th 
  • Interviews with Selected Candidates: August
  • Notification of Decisions: Late September 
  • Scholars are required to attend the 2024 Annual Meeting to present their project findings and meet with the Board of Directors. Registration fees will be waived for scholars attending the Annual Meeting. 

Hypothesis

  • Prospective Scholars must be current or recent graduates (less than 5 years since graduation) of a graduate-level epidemiology degree program.
  • Applicants who are existing ACE members will need to complete an ACE Scholar Application; non-members will need to complete an ACE Scholar Application and simultaneously apply for membership to the College. 

Program Detail and Benefits

During the program year, Scholars will be engaged in variety of training and mentoring activities, including having the opportunity to present at the ACE Annual Meeting and/or publish an article in the Annals of Epidemiology. 

  • Opportunity to meet ACE Board of Directors and ACE Foundation leaders
  • One-on-one mentor pairing with an ACE Fellow
  • Peer-to-peer networking with other scholars and professional development webinars
  • Opportunity to assist with ACE Annual Meeting planning and onsite activities
  • Waived registration fees and travel award to attend ACE Annual Meeting
  • Implementation of a project (examples below) to be defined in conjunction with ACE leadership.  

Example Projects

Projects should be aligned with the most recent ACE Strategic Plan, and build upon the candidate's background and skillset. 

  • Examination of ACE membership trends over time
  • Exploring trends in epidemiology job opportunities in varied settings
  • Leveraging social media to disseminate ACE news and member highlights
